Our Name, Our Purpose

Rooted in the rural village of Middlefield Massachusetts, Beltane Hill was built with the idea that through living green and working to help the community we can create a better world.

Located on top of Bell Road hill, the name for Beltane Hill was derived from the location and the celebration of the ancient holiday of Beltane, welcoming a time of growth both for AzureGreen which it hosts, and the community that it seeks to help strive and prosper. To this end, Beltane seemed particularly appropriate, with its celebration involving the many, interweaving strands of the Maypole, which is representative of the connections of the people of any community.

We thought this entirely befitting of the purpose of this building and the lands it is built upon. It is our goal to integrate life and livelihood, and provide a model of how to live lighter upon the earth. This, living green, was the philosophy that prompted the locally owned mail order business AzureGreen to design and construct Beltane Hill. The building offers local job creation, and a shared facility for community needs such as: Local food and dining, Children's Programs, a Healing Pyramid, support for economic enterprises, and a Village Center meeting place for multi-generation, multi-purpose activities improving quality of life.
