Place & Purpose:
The place is the village of Middlefield, MA and the Green-designed building on Bell Road hill, at the village center. 

The building is named Beltane Hill because of the Bell Hill location, and because Beltane is the ancient holiday to welcome the growing season of summer. Beltane is celebrated by the village maypole dance, which is a great symbol for how this project is also made of diverse, interweaving stands, creating a connecting web among many people. 

The purpose is integration of life and livelihood in models of living lighter upon earth. This philosophy prompted the locally owned, mail-order business, AzureGreen, to design Beltane Hill. The building offers local job creation, and shared facilities for community needs such as: Local food and dining, Children’s Programs, Healing Pyramid, support for economic enterprises, and a Village Center meeting place for multi-generation, multi-purpose activities improving quality of life.
