Christmas Dream Comes True as AzureGreen Debuts New Commercial
MIDDLEFIELD, MA--(Marketwire - December 21, 2007) -
AzureGreen,
a multi-million dollar online business that sells metaphysical items
worldwide, wanted a light-hearted commercial for their website's
wholesale and retail customers. The commercial, entitled "Need
Supplies?," had a critical role to cast -- one of a small,
magical gnome. When Producer Patricia Baker spoke with AzureGreen
owners Tamarin Laurel and Adair Laurel Cafarella about casting the
part, all three immediately thought of local Middlefield resident,
Meg Rock.
Seven-year-old Meg has a vivacious personality, a gift for
performing, and a physical challenge -- a rare form of idiopathic
infantile scoliosis (IIS). She is one of only 12 children in the
northeast with IIS, which necessitates wearing a brace 24 hours a
day to help correct the severe curve in her spine. Meg, however,
does not see this as a limitation, and at her young age has already
appeared in four plays.
Her small stature, combined with her indomitable spirit, often
makes her the star of the show even when she plays a supporting
role. During her first commercial shoot, Meg charmed the crew and
hit her lines like a pro. "She definitely has that 'it'
factor," adds Baker, "and she felt right at home on the
set with the other actors." Meg's dream of appearing on camera
is a Christmas wish coming true. "I had a lot of fun and I'm
very excited about seeing it," says Meg.
AzureGreen began as a storefront business in 1986 selling
metaphysical books. They quickly became successful, outgrew their
location and moved to an online venue. AzureGreen's inventory
includes an enormous variety of items from candles and incense to
calendars, CDs, books and crystals. With easy ordering via their
internet site, wholesale and retail customer revenues are
approximately $5 million a year.
AzureGreen is the largest employer in this small western
Massachusetts hill town and well known for their generous community
support. "We enjoy creating opportunities for people from our
town and region," says Tamarin Laurel. All of the actors in the
AzureGreen commercial are from New England. The commercial for
