Economic
Development
The idea for Beltane Hill was born in 2001 from a public–private
cooperation between the community’s demand for economic
opportunity, and the need for new business space for AzureGreen.
AzureGreen is a low-impact, non-polluting, internet and mail-order
company, which has been harmoniously operating in Middlefield since
1991. As of 2002, AzureGreen employed 22 people, and contributed
$1.8 million to the Massachusetts economy. (In addition to its
national and international purchases, AzureGreen spent $937,000 in
Middlefield, $484,000 with firms within 30 miles, and $438,000 with
firms elsewhere in Massachusetts.) AzureGreen is a prime example of
why Middlefield was noted as the best in job creation performance,
of the 7 surrounding towns analyzed in a Market Study done for
neighboring Chester.
The construction of Beltane Hill begins in 2008. Continuing
our commitment to supporting the local economy, we have enlisted the
construction expertise of:
D.A. DiNicola Excavation, of Middlefield, for sitework. www.dinicolaexcavation.com
Restorations Inc, of Hinsdale, as General Contractor. www.restorationsincberkshires.com
Hill Engineers, of Dalton, for engineering and systems designs. www.hillengineers.com
Designer Rob Blanchard of The Architecture Team, in Pittsfield, for
conceptual and Feng Shui design. www.thearchitectureteam.com
